Industry Performance

The apparel sector had the best performance in terms of number of solid double digit gains, but the drug stores had by far the highest median comp store sales gain. Mass Merchants and Department Stores posted solid gains in July with solid moderate single digit growth at the median. Specialty retail and home furnishings experienced the toughest shopping environments.

Methodology:
Multiple operating units of a company are reported separately as well as on a consolidated basis. Each operating unit references its parent.
