Industry Performance

Although most sectors showed gains, results were mixed as the better performers in the apparel and department store sectors were offset by some fairly poor performances by competitors. Mass merchants were dragged down by a slight -0.10 percent drop at Wal Mart, however it was their first monthly decline since 1996.

Methodology:
Multiple operating units of a company are reported separately as well as on a consolidated basis. Each operating unit references its parent.
